China's 3 teams make semifinals of Qinghai International Curling Elite

XINING, China, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- China has three teams make the semifinals of the Qinghai International Curling Elite after the last round robin matches concluded on Wednesday.

The Chinese men's team, women's team and women's junior team, all ranked the top four in their respective groups, thus making the semifinals to be held on Thursday morning, with the finals slated in the afternoon.

In the men's actions on Wednesday afternoon, Switzerland beat the United States 8-5 and Scotland edged China 9-8. Thus, China placed third on the overall standings with a 6-2 win-loss record after Switzerland and Scotland, and Norway ranked fourth with a 5-3 win-loss sheet.

In the women's matches on Wednesday evening, China had a tough match with Sweden to tie for 7-all through the regular 10 ends. In 11th end, the Swedish skip swirled the last stone into the house for the winning point. And the Chinese junior team had a solid performance, beating Canada 9-8.

On the women's standings, Russia ranked first, followed by China, Switzerland and Chinese Junior.

On Thursday, China will meet Scotland, Norway play Switzerland in the men's semifinals, while the women's semifinals put China against Switzerland, and Russia vs Chinese Junior. Enditem
