ABUJA, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were confirmed dead after a commercial bus and a truck collided in Nigeria's southwestern state of Ogun, an official said on Wednesday.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, a spokesman for the local traffic police in the state capital of Abeokuta, said the accident happened on the Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway late Tuesday.

According to Akinbiyi, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide head-on with the bus.

He said the truck driver sustained an injury in the accident.

The traffic police spokesman blamed the incident on speeding and negligence on the part of the truck driver. Enditem
