AMMAN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Iran on Wednesday reiterated their rejection of U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, state-run Petra news agency reported.
At a meeting between Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh and Iranian Ambassador to Jordan Mahabati Fardous, the two sides discussed the latest development in Jerusalem.
Tarawneh said Jordan will take part in the 13th meeting of conference of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference that will be held in Tehran next month.
Jordan will continue to support the Palestinians and help them realize their aspirations to build an independent state, he added.
Tarawneh also stressed the need for cooperation between Jordan and Iran.
For his part, Fardous also highlighted Iran's rejection of the decision by Trump.
The Iranian ambassador voiced support for Jordan's custodianship on the holy Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem, urging unity among regional countries to face Israeli occupation. Enditem
