British stocks up 0.09 pct Tuesday

LONDON, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.09 percent, or 7.08 points, to close at 7,544.09 points.

Shire, a global specialty biopharmaceutical company, soared 3.79 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. easyJet and Carnival both increased by 2.83 percent .

Mediclinic International,an international private hospital group, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.77 percent. Fresnillo, a precious metals mining company, dropped 2.71 percent. Micro Focus International, a multinational software and information technology business, fell 1.74 percent. Enditem
