China's Zhang wins 3 games in a row at Hainan Chess Open

HAIKOU, China, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Yonglong of China scored three victories in a row as the "Belt and Road" 2017 Hainan Chess Open concluded its third round matches in Sanya, South China's Hainan province on Tuesday.

Zhang beat Hideaki Takahashi of Japan, Sugeng Prasetyo of Indonesia defeated Wang Zijian of China, and both of them shared the top spot with three full points.

Chasing behind are five players with 2.5 points apiece, including China's Bai Jinshi, Zhou Jianchao and Liu Yan, India's Sandipan Chanda and Ukraine's Vitaly Siuvk.

The Hainan Chess Open kicked off on Dec. 17 and will run till Dec. 26, featuring some 60 players from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, the United States and host China. They will vie for a total prize of 380,000 RMB (about 57,000 US dollars). Enditem
