Indonesia launches theme of MIKTA group for 2018

JAKARTA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The theme of 2018 for the five-country consultative group MIKTA, grouping Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia, will be "Fostering Creative Economy and Contributing to Global Peace," MIKTA rotating chair Indonesia said on Tuesday.
The Indonesian chairmanship's theme was officially launched by Indonesia Deputy Foreign Minister A.M. Fachir in a symposium.
The theme would highlight three main elements under Indonesia's chairmanship that consisted of counter-terrorism and global security, peacekeeping and creative economy, he said.
MIKTA opens more opportunities for Indonesia to expand both collective and bilateral cooperation with fellow member countries in the the group in the fields of economy, trade, politics, security, education and social culture, Fachir said.
The symposium was aimed at exploring further cooperation among member countries under MIKTA frameworks.
Indonesia took the rotating chairmanship from Turkey at the 11th MIKTA foreign ministerial meeting in Istanbul.
MIKTA was founded as a forum to exchange views and consultation among member countries, promoting dialogues to discuss international issues of common concern. Enditem
