British stocks up 0.62 pct Monday

LONDON, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.62 percent, or 46.44 points, to close at 7,537.01 points.

Anglo American, a multinational mining company, soared 5.00 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Old Mutual and Rolls-Royce Holdings increased by 4.77 percent and 2.95 percent, respectively.

easyJet,a low-cost airline carrier, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.82 percent. WPP, a British multinational advertising and public relations company, dropped 1.73 percent. Wm Morrison Supermarkets, a British supermarket chain, fell 0.97 percent. Enditem
