BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- China has over 67.2 million registered volunteers, the China Volunteer Service Federation (CVF) said at its board of directors meeting Monday.

Zhao Jinfang, deputy head and secretary general of the federation, said 49 percent of the volunteers were under 35.

The number of organizations for voluntary services has surpassed 410,000, while more than 1.03 million voluntary service programs have been launched. The total volunteering duration was about 810 million hours.

Zhao said the figures were from a recently launched information system for voluntary service nationwide, which was approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Enditem
