THE HAGUE -- The death toll in two stabbing incidents in Dutch city of Maastricht on Thursday has risen to two as one more person confirmed dead.

GENEVA -- The UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said that the way Intra-Syrian peace talks proceed will come after he speaks to the Security Council in New York as the eighth round ended Thursday without "real negotiations."
He told journalists at the UN in Geneva that the two weeks of talks failed to yield the intended results despite great efforts, which he described as a "missed golden opportunity." (UN-Syria Talks)

PARIS -- At least four students were killed and 24 others seriously wounded, including 21 students, as a train collided with a school bus in southern France on Thursday.
"There are 24 people seriously wounded. Of these 24, 21 are middle school students," said Philippe Vignes, an official with the county of Pyrenees-Orientales where the accident took place. (French-Collision)

MOGADISHU -- At least 18 police officers were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide bombing early Thursday at a police academy in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, police said.
