China's top legislature schedules bi-monthly session

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The top legislature of China will convene for its bi-monthly session from Dec. 22 to 27, according to a statement issued after a chairpersons' meeting Thursday.
Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.
Attendees of Thursday's meeting suggested the NPC Standing Committee session continue to review draft laws on supervision, tobacco leaf tax, ship tonnage tax and the prevention of soil pollution, as well as a draft revision to the law on farmers' specialized cooperatives.
They will deliberate bills to discuss draft laws on basic medical care and health promotion, international criminal judicial assistance, tendering and bidding, and a draft revision to the law on metrology.
Other bills, including those to review the draft law on the people's juror system, and draft revisions to the laws on judges and prosecutors, will also be discussed during the session.
Lawmakers will also consider a number of reports, including on the implementation of the cybersecurity law and the protection of online information.
The session will also review a number of official appointments and dismissals. Enditem
