LPGA to add two events in US next season

Xinhua,December 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The LPGA Tour will be adding two tournaments in California next year, which will bring the total number of the events in the US to 19.

While it lost two events next year, namely the Lorena Ochoa Match Play in Mexico and the Manulife LPGA Classic in Canada, the LPGA replaced them with three new tournaments. Besides the two stops in America, the tour also adds one event in China's Shanghai.

"Perhaps the most important aspect of our schedule is the consistency -- continuing to deliver strong playing opportunities both in North America and around the world, while growing overall purse levels every year," LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan said Tuesday in a news release.

Next year will feature a 34-tournament schedule that offers a record 68.75 million US dollars in prize money. Enditem
