GAZA, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli helicopters struck early Thursday several militant posts in the Gaza Strip in response to earlier rocket attacks carried out from the coastal enclave against Israel, security officials said.
The officials said the Israeli air force struck those posts that belong to al-Qassam Brigades, an armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas, with air-to-surface missiles, adding that ten airstrikes were carried out on these posts across the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources said no injuries were reported, but severe damage was caused to the posts and the nearby houses.
Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have been escalating since U.S. President Donald Trump decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Nov. 6. Since then, six Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and more than 2,000 protestors injured. Enditem
