RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Former Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz has signed a one-year contract extension with Paraguayan club Olimpia, extending his professional career to a 21st season.

The 36-year-old confirmed the news on Twitter by posting a photo that partially showed his new contract along with the words "together" and "let's go".

Santa Cruz returned to Olimpia in 2016, 17 years after leaving his boyhood club to join Bayern Munich.

He has since netted nine times in 48 appearances for the Asuncion side, who this month finished second in Paraguay's Clausura first division tournament behind Cerro Porteno.

Santa Cruz has been capped 112 times for Paraguay's national team and scored 32 goals. Enditem
