URGENT: Ecuador's vice-president sentenced to six years in prison for corruption

QUITO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A criminal court in Ecuador on Wednesday sentenced the suspended vice-president, Jorge Glas, to six years in prison for illicit association within the bribery scheme run by Brazilian construction firm, Odebrecht.

This is the first sentence handed down in Ecuador within the Odebrecht case, although eight other people have been arrested.

Glas, who has been in preventive custody since Oct. 2, was present in court when the verdict was read out. Enditem
