Saudi king vows to continue fighting extremism and corruption

RIYADH, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud vowed Wednesday to continue fighting extremism and corruption, Al Arabiya local news reported.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the second year of the seventh session of the Shura, or consultative council at the council's headquarters in Riyadh.

Some government agencies have been restructured and a number of decisions have been taken to serve the interests of the society, strengthen the homeland's security, combat corruption, and increase the participation of male and female citizens in the national development, the king said.

The king vowed to continue to empower the private sector to promote its involvement in developments, especially job opportunities for youth.

He also promised to confront corruption in a fair and a firm way for the country to enjoy the renaissance and development hoped for by every citizen.

He added that an extremist who sees moderation as degeneration and exploits tolerant religion to achieve his goals cannot be accepted in society. Enditem
