KIEV, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 302 km of roads in the Ukrainian capital have undergone a major modernization this year, setting a historical record, local media cited Kiev mayor to report on Tuesday.
"This year, Kiev became the leader among Ukrainian cities in terms of the pace and volume of road repairs," Vitali Klitschko, mayor of Kiev, said in an interview with a local "Kiev" TV-channel.
In 2017, a total of 25 key highways and about 280 secondary roads were repaired in the capital city, Klitschko said.
On top of that, more than 70 new pedestrian crossings are currently under construction in Kiev, he added.
The Ukrainian capital has about 1,667 km of roads. In 2016, about 12 percent of them have undergone a major revamp. Enditem
