BiH children set world record of most people playing piano simultaneously

Xinhua,December 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

SARAJEVO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Children from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) broke the Guinness World Record here on Tuesday for the most people to simultaneously play a single piano, local media reported.

At City Hall in Sarajevo, 20 students of elementary and secondary schools simultaneously performed the composition "Galop Marche", written by French musicologist and composer Albert Lavignac.

The children, together with their music teachers, had been preparing the performance for several months.

"In an effort to promote pedagogical, artistic work, the profession and the young pianists and to bring it closer to the wider auditorium, we decided to overcome the existing record," organizers told local media.

The special challenge was how to manage to get all 20 children to play simultaneously. Some children were standing, some laying down, and some sitting while playing music.

Before the record was broken, the highest number of musicians to play the same piano simultaneously is 18, achieved by Angela Montemurro (Italy) and 17 of her students in Bari, Italy, on Oct. 20, 2014, according to the Guinness World Record official website. Enditem
