Chinese state councilor meets American Foreign Policy Council delegation

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with a delegation from the American Foreign Policy Council Tuesday.

Yang said long-term, steady and healthy China-U.S. ties conform to the fundamental interests of both countries, as well as the expectation of the international community.

Yang called for "mutual respect, more cooperation and proper handling of differences" to promote bilateral ties.

The delegates said the United States and China have common interests in many fields, and the United States is willing to work with China to boost bilateral ties.

The delegation was invited by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Enditem
