JAKARTA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- No Indonesian national was affected by the recent attack at a Manhattan bus terminal in New York City, the United States, Indonesian Consul General in New York City Abdul Kadir Jailani was quoted by a local media as saying on Tuesday.
He said his office has issued advises for Indonesian nationals in New York City to remain vigilant particularly in public spaces.
They should also bring their ID documents anywhere they go in the city, Jailani said.
There are about 9,000 Indonesian nationals residing in New York City at present.
The Indonesian consulate general has established coordination with local authorities to keep up with the latest progress of investigation into the attack, he added.
NYC police have arrested the man identified as Akayed Ullah, a Bangladesh-origin resident, who was suspected of carrying out the suicidal bombing attack that took place during rush hour in Port Authority Bus Terminal on Monday morning.
His attack wounded three others and himself.
Police said the attacker had stated his allegiance to Islamic State (IS) terror organization, declaring his attack was a response to Israel's recent attack in Gaza related to tensions in the area following the United States unilateral recognition on Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. Enditem
