Hornets forward Zeller sidelined for knee surgery

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Charlotte Hornets Monday announced that Cody Zeller will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to deal with a torn medial meniscus in his left knee.

Zeller, who sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Hornets game against the Golden State Warriors last week, has appeared in 19 games this season and is averaging 7.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He is expected to be out for six weeks.

In 298 career games with Charlotte, he has averaged 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

After a solid start to the season, Charlotte has fallen to 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 9-16. Enditem
