Tokyo stocks inch higher in morning ahead of Fed meeting

TOKYO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged marginally higher Tuesday morning with investors opting not to make bold moves ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting scheduled to begin later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 5.48 points, or 0.02 percent, from Monday to 22,944.21.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.10 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,818.44.

Mining and marine transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
