Hong Kong wins nine awards in int'l ICT competition

HONG KONG, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong won nine awards in the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Alliance (APICTA) Awards held earlier in Dhaka, Bangladesh, according the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government website on Monday.

The Hong Kong delegation won four Winners and five Merits in nine of the contesting categories of the awards, which was held on Dec. 7-10 in Dhaka. The awards is dubbed the Oscars of the ICT arena in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 32-strong Hong Kong delegation, organized by the Hong Kong Computer Society and led by the HKSAR Government Chief Information Officer Allen Yeung, comprised ICT practitioners as well as primary, secondary and tertiary students.

Yeung praised the encouraging results achieved by Hong Kong contestants.

"The outstanding performance of the delegation from Hong Kong, being one of the regions with the most awards this year, has once again proved the ingenuity and excellence of Hong Kong's ICT industry, professionals and students," said Yeung. Enditem
