Real, Valencia both win in Saturday's La Liga

MADRID, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid claimed an easy win at home over a decaffeinated Sevilla in La Liga on Saturday, while Valencia also won to put the pressure on Barcelona.

Cristiano Ronaldo showed off the Golden Ball trophy he had been awarded during the week and celebrated with two goals as Madrid netted five in the first half, in which Sevilla seemed to be half asleep.

Nacho Fernandez scored following a corner after just three minutes and 20 minutes later Ronaldo doubled the lead off a pass from Marco Asensio.

He then scored a penalty, before further goals from Tony Kroos and Achraf Hakimi sealed the win by the 42nd minute.

Valencia moved to within two points of league leaders FC Barcelona, who visit Villarreal on Sunday, thanks to a narrow 2-1 win at home to Celta.

Simone Zaza's 10th goal of the season put Valencia ahead midway through the first half, only for Iago Aspas to equalize a minute after the break.

It looked as if the points would be shared only for Dani Parejo to win the match from the penalty spot after Pablo Hernandez had handled.

Adrian Lopez celebrated his 100th appearance for Deportivo la Coruna with the goal which gave his side a well-deserved 1-0 win at home to Leganes, while Getafe and Eibar made history as each side fielded a Japanese player (Takashi Inui ad Gaku Shibasaki) during the 90 minutes of their game, which ended 0-0 and had little else to recommend it.
