BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday officially declared full liberation of Iraq from the Islamic State (IS) militants after Iraqi forces recaptured all the areas once seized by the extremist group.

"I announce to the Iraqi people and all the world that our forces have reached the last redoubts of Daesh (IS) and have raised the Iraqi flag over areas of western Anbar (province) which was the last occupied land by IS," Abadi said in a televised speech. (Iraq-IS-Liberation)

ISLAMABAD -- Officials in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan said Saturday that over 300 militants and 17 of their commanders of banned organizations have laid down arms and surrendered to the government.

RAMALLAH/GAZA -- Hundreds of Palestinians were injured Saturday in fierce clashes with Israeli forces during protests against the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Palestinian sources said.

SANAA -- At least six people were killed and dozens of others wounded when Saudi-led coalition warplanes separately hit two popular markets in Yemen on Saturday, residents and medics said.

One of the targets, Khalakah market, is located in Nehm district, about 30 km northeast of the rebel-controlled capital Sanaa, where the airstrikes killed at least five people, injuring dozens of other shoppers, and burned three cars, according to a medic in Nehm district.
