CAPE TOWN, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Saturday.
-- The Presidency announced on Friday that it would appeal a judgment by the North Gauteng High Court seeking the removal of the current National Director of Public Prosecutions.
"Whilst the President awaits a full briefing on the judgement, he has been advised that an early assessment displays, with respect, various grounds upon which a successful appeal may be prosecuted," the Presidency said in a statement. (News24)
-- The South African Mint, a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), has created a commemorative silver coin in honor of the world's first successful human-to-human heart transplant 50 years ago.

-- The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Friday it will appeal a high court order that its head Shaun Abrahams leaves office and be replaced within 60 days.
