KAMPALA, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's members of parliament have retained the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Football Cup after beating their Tanzanian counterparts 2-1.
"Our team emerged champions again in football at the on-going 2017 East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games in Tanzania," said Chris Obore, the spokesman for the Uganda parliament, on Friday.

Uganda's team was captained by Makindye West Member of Parliament, Allan Ssewanyana, while Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Muhammed Nsereko, finished as the goal scorer of the tournament with five goals.
Obore said Uganda also performed well in netball and athletics where former Uganda national runner Julius Acon won the 1,500m, 400m and 800m races.
