LUSAKA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Police in Zambia on Friday shot dead one of the criminals behind the killing of a Chinese business executive last month.

Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the criminal was shot dead in the early hours of Friday and that one gun was recovered as well as the vehicle the criminals had used to commit the crime.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga also confirmed the shooting of the dangerous criminal who was among two others behind the killing of the Chinese national.

She said the criminal was killed when the police pursued them in the industrial area of the city and promised that the search for the other criminals will continue.

On November 19, a Chinese national who was a director at Amaya Investment Limited in Ndola city on the Copperbelt Province was killed when armed robbers stormed the company premises.

The masked criminals ran away with an undisclosed amount of money and a vehicle.

The Zambia-Chinese Association had offered a reward of 50,000 Zambian Kwacha (about 4,900 U.S. dollars) to any person with information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the criminals. Enditem
