"Belt and Road" Haikou Youth Football Tournament kicks off

HAIKOU, China, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The "Belt and Road" Haikou Youth Football Tournament 2017 started on Friday in Haikou, the capital city of South China's island province of Hainan.

Eight teams from Croatia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and China attended the tournament.

The tournament features group and knockout stages, adopting the latest rules of the Chinese Football Association. It will see 20 games in all in five days.

In the first round of the group stage, NK Bubamara Zagreb of Croatia beat Haikou Mo. 4 Middle School 6-0, and Malacca Sports School U15 of Malaysia beat Chongqing Qijiang Middle School 8-0.

As an important city of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Haikou plans to make the tournament a high-level international competition, covering Belt and Road countries and regions. Enditem
