Singaporean stocks close 1.08 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed up 1.08 percent or 36.5 points to close at 3424.64.

A total of 1.47 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.05 billion Singapore dollars (about 774 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 238 to 179.

The STI index closed down 0.27 percent or 9.07 points to close at 3,388.14 on Thursday. Enditem
