Belarus has no plan to relocate embassy in Israel

Xinhua,December 08, 2017 Adjust font size:

MINSK, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Belarus has no plan to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

Dmitry Mironchik, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, said at a press briefing that the Belarus' embassy in Israel will continue its work in Tel Aviv.

Belarus will consider embassy relocation only when there is a mutually acceptable decision on the final status of Jerusalem, the official said.

Belarus reaffirms its commitment to decisions on the principle of Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation, Mironchik said.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and instructed the State Department to begin the process of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Enditem
