French shares gain 0.18 pct Thursday

PARIS, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.18 percent, or 9.51 points, to close at 5,383.86 points.

26 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French telecom giant Orange SA advanced 2.32 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Credit Agricole, a French network of cooperative and mutual banks rose 1.88 percent. French banking giant Societe Generale gained 1.26 percent.

French retail giant Carrefour went down by 2.91 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Oil and gas firm Technipfmc lost 1.20 percent. Building material manufacturer LafargeHolcim edged down 0.97 percent. Enditem
