U.S. not peace sponsor any more after Trump declaration: Palestinian PM

Xinhua,December 07, 2017 Adjust font size:

GAZA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said Thursday that United States can not be a peace sponsor anymore after U.S. President Donald Trump's declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Israel.

"We won't accept you anymore as a sponsor to the peace process in the Middle East," Hamdallah told a news conference he held in Gaza after arriving from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip for internal reconciliation talks.

Hamdallah's position is a reaction to Trump's declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Israel, which sparked a large Palestinian outrage all over the Palestinian territories.

"We will tell you from Gaza that we will confront you with national unity and Palestine will return on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital," said Hamdallah.

"We will devote to reconciliation, but if we fail, we will rise again to face together the biggest challenge, the Israeli occupation," the prime minister said. Enditem
