Czech President appoints Adrej Babis as new PM

Xinhua,December 06, 2017 Adjust font size:

PRAGUE, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Czech President Milos Zeman appointed ANO movement leader Andrej Babis as the country's new prime minister on Wednesday.

Babis's new government is to be appointed next week, and Zeman said he would meet each of the government's new members by Dec. 13.

Babis wants to form a minority government including ANO politicians and unaffiliated experts. However, no party in the Chamber of Deputies has yet promised to support his government in a confidence vote. But Zeman has said he would take part in the lower house session and cast a vote of confidence in order to back Babis's government.

Babis's new government is to have 15 members that include nine newcomers, five ANO ministers who are part of the outgoing government, and Babis himself. Enditem
