TIRANA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Albania's National Agency of Natural Resources (NANR) has reached an oil exploration deal with SHELL Company, paving the way for the start of the drilling in Block 4, in southern Albania, head of NANR Adrian Bylyku announced Tuesday.

Bylyku told reporters he was very optimistic about the developments in the country's hydrocarbons sector.

"The upcoming year can be considered successful, especially for the hydrocarbons sector, since we have reached an agreement with SHELL on Block 4," said Bylyku.

Block 4 includes the area between Saranda and Gjirokastra in southern Albania. The calls for its drilling were initially made by NANR in 2015.

On the other hand, he noted that SHELL was continuing its oil and gas exploration in Block 2 and 3.

Block 2 and 3 are located in Berat area in southwestern Albania. Enditem
