British stocks down 0.16 pct Tuesday

LONDON, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.16 percent, or 11.47 points, to close at 7,327.50 points.

Standard Chartered, a multinational banking group, soared 3.03 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Tesco and Sainsbury increased by 3 percent and 2.75 percent respectively.

The international mining group Anglo American was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.45 percent. Glencore, a major multinational metal company, dropped 2.27 percent. St James's Place, a British wealth management business, lost 2.08 percent. Enditem
