BANGKOK -- Thailand's fugitive former premier Yingluck Shinawatra has not obtained a British passport, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said on Monday.

DAVAO CITY, Philippines -- Six people were killed in a clash between government troops and leftist rebels in southern Philippines on Sunday, the military said on Monday.
The latest fighting which erupted in the upland town of Lake Sebu in Mindanao's South Cotabato province happened hours after insurgents stormed a police station in Misamis Oriental province, also in Mindanao that wounded six policemen. (Philippines-Rebels)

SEOUL -- The combined air forces of South Korea and the United States on Monday kicked off their biggest-ever joint air force exercise on the Korean Peninsula, mobilizing about 230 fighter jets, bombers and other combat planes, Yonhap news agency reported.
The South Korean air force was quoted as saying that the Vigilant ACE air combat exercise will be jointly conducted with the U.S. Seventh Air Force from Monday to Friday to enhance joint wartime operation capability. (South Korea-U.S.-Exercise)

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- At least six Islamic States (IS) militants have been killed during drone strikes against the hardliner group in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, Attaullah Khogiani, spokesman for provincial governor said Monday.
The unmanned aircrafts targeted the hideouts of IS militants in Haska Mina district on Sunday afternoon, killing six fighters on the spot and injuring few others, according to the official. (Afghanistan-Militants) Enditem
