500 youths commissioned to army in S. Afghanistan

LASHKARGAH, Afghanistan, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 500 youths after completion of an eight-week training course have been commissioned to Afghan National Army (ANA) in Helmand province, a military official said Monday.

"A total of 500 people have completed their eight-week training course in the training center of national army in Helmand province on Sunday and joined ANA to serve the nation," a senior army officer in the southern region Gen. Wali Mohammad Ahmadzai told Xinhua.

At the same event, a total of 900 soldiers after completion of military training in northern Balkh province, joined the national army couple of days ago.

The Afghan government and NATO-led Resolute Support mission have speeded up the training process of defense security forces of Afghanistan to bolster the war against militants in the conflict-plagued country. Enditem
