Toll collector killed on duty in truck-ramming crash in California

Xinhua,December 03, 2017 Adjust font size:

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- A toll-collector of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) was killed on duty in a deadly crash when a rental truck slammed into her toll booth in the U.S. state of California early Saturday, police said.

Toll collector Si Si Han, a mother of a 10-year girl, died instantly when a medium-sized rental box truck ploughed through five other vehicles waiting in line at the toll station on the Bay Bridge linking San Francisco and Oakland in its northeast.

The truck driver and a passenger were ejected from the truck, and the driver suffered serious injuries.

A TV footage showed that the toll booth was completely demolished and several lanes of the 18-toll lane bridge were closed, possibly for most of Saturday.

The cause of the accident was under investigation. Enditem
