Iran draws on Samsung expertise to achieve high-tech boost

TEHRAN, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- South Korean Samsung company cooperates with Iran in training the Iranian experts to achieve the state-of-art technologies, Financial Tribune daily reported on Saturday.

Samsung has set up an engineering academy in Iran and some 7,200 youth have been trained at the center of which 1,400 have entered the job market after receiving a certificate of skill from Samsung.

The company will also convene the third Iranian Electrical Technicians Olympiad in collaboration with Iran Technical and Vocational Training Organization (TVTO) from Dec.15-22.

The competition would focus on the repair of cellphones, tablets, home appliances, air-conditioning units and multimedia devices.

According to the report, the South Korean electronics company's local sales manager, Farhad Hejrat, said that "the event seeks to introduce skilled Iranian technicians to employers."

For participating in the event, those eligible can register with the portal samsungtechholypiad.ir for free, the daily said, adding that Samsung will give 30 Azadi gold coins to each of the top three contestants, each Azadi gold costs 320 U.S. dollars.

Close to 1,700 people participated in the previous round of the competition in Jan. 2016.

Deputy research director of TVTO, Hamidreza Sabetnejad, said that such events provide young technicians with a chance to polish their skills and prove their mettle. Enditem
