2nd LD-Writethru: 5.5-magnitude earthquake hits Iran's Kerman province, no casualties

TEHRAN, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Iran's Kerman province on Saturday, Iran's Seismological Center reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Hojadk town, 58 km north-northeast of Kerman city, a city in the southeastern Iran.
The epicenter was at a depth of 10 km.
No immediate reports about the casualties or damage has been released so far, semi-official Fars news agency quoted Shahin Fathi, deputy of Iran's Relief Organization, as saying.
Other reports also said that the relief teams, which had been stationed in the region following Friday 6.0-magnitude earthquake, are in the alert condition.
Friday's earthquake in Hojadk town injured at least 52 people, affected more than a dozen villages and destroyed over 100 homes.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has ordered the Interior Ministry to take proper measures to speed up relief and rescue operations.
On Nov. 12, a strong earthquake measuring 7.3 magnitude hit Iran-Iraq border area, leaving more than 470 people killed, over 9,000 others injured and 16,000 houses damaged.
The deadliest quake in Iran's modern history happened in June 1990, destroying several cities and hundreds of villages in northern Iran, killing an estimated 37,000 people.
Bam, also in Kerman Province, witnessed a strong quake in December 2003 which killed 31,000 people. Enditem
