BEIJING -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) hopes to work with Japan's major political parties, including the Komeito Party, to improve bilateral ties, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang said.

Wang made the remarks when meeting Friday with Natsuo Yamaguchi, leader of Japan's Komeito Party, who is in Beijing to attend a high-level meeting between the CPC and world political parties.

ANKARA -- Turkish banking watchdog announced on Friday that Bank of China has been granted a license to operate in Turkey as the second Chinese lender to operate in the country after Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The chairman of Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency Mehmet Ali Akben said that permission had been already given to the bank. It can officially start its banking transactions since Dec. 2.

PUNTA DEL ESTE, Uruguay -- Chinese automaker Lifan has expressed its interest in establishing a plant in Uruguay to produce electric vehicles, Energy and Mining Minister Carolina Cosse said on Friday.

Company executives proposed the idea at a meeting with President Tabare Vazquez on the sidelines of the 11th China-Latin America and the Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit in Punta del Este, Uruguay, Cosse said.

SHENZHEN -- Four self-driving buses began trial operations Saturday in south China's Shenzhen, a city known for its high concentration of hi-tech companies.

The smart buses, which are smaller than an ordinary bus, began running on a 1.2-kilometer route with three stops in the bonded zone of Futian.

FRANKFURT -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS), an affiliate of Xinhua News Agency, on Friday inked deals with some 20 think-tanks and media outlets across Europe to establish a "Belt and Road" financial information partnership.

The partnership aims to build a "silk road of financial information," Kuang Lecheng, vice president of CEIS, said at the inaugural ceremony in Frankfurt. Enditem
