PUNTA DEL ESTE -- China's Belt and Road Initiative should serve as an inspiration to Latin America and the Caribbean, president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, said on Friday.

Addressing the opening of the 11th China-Latin America and the Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit here, Moreno said "anyone who looks into the initiative will see that it is truly amazing given its scale and goal of integrating countries in different parts of the globe." (China-LatAm-IDB)

SOCHI, Russia -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Friday urged the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries to enhance cooperation in security, trade liberalization and inter-connectivity, so as to maintain stability and promote growth in the region.

TEGUCIGALPA -- Alleged angry supporters of Honduran opposition candidate Salvador Nasralla, who contests his razor-thin loss to the incumbent, continued to rampage in parts of the country on Friday.

The violence led Nasralla to take to the airwaves to say his supporters were protesting "peacefully," and that the rioters were infiltrators from the ruling National Party. (Honduras-Elections-Protests)

WASHINGTON -- Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn on Friday pleaded guilty to lying regarding improper contacts with Russian officials, as the White House said the charges implicated no one else in the White House.

"My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the special counsel's office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I will accept full responsibility for my actions," Flynn told a court in Washington D.C. (U.S.-Flynn)
