Chinese state councilor meets U.S. delegation

BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Friday met with a delegation from the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations led by Carla Hills, chair of the committee.

Briefing the guests on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Yang said China stands ready to work with the U.S. side to sincerely implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state during their talks in Beijing last month, and expand cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis while respecting each other's core interests and major concerns with a view to further development of the bilateral ties.

Yang, also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called on the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations to continue playing an active role in helping advance the China-U.S. relations in a healthy and stable way as well as increase people-to-people interactions between the two countries.

Hills said the committee attaches great importance to the development of the bilateral ties and will do its part to boost exchanges between the two countries as well as the two peoples. Enditem
