Christmas market in Potsdam, Germany evacuated due to suspect object

BERLIN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- A Christmas market in Germany's Potsdam was evacuated on Friday due to a suspicious object, local police said on their Twitter account.

The Christmas market is closed and the area has been cleared. The police have set up a blocking circuit at the market where a suspicious item has been identified, according to Brandenburg police.

Special forces of German Federal Police in Berlin and Brandenburg are now on the scene and investigating the suspicious object, the police said. Enditem
