Singapore research institutions to strengthen collaborations with int'l partners

SINGAPORE, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) of Singapore commemorated its 10th anniversary on Friday with new initiatives to achieve greater research partnerships with world-renowned universities.

The new efforts included the formation of a CREATE Governing Council to seek to maximize synergies between Singapore's universities/research institutions and the international partners to achieve high impact research outcomes relevant for Singapore.

Three new programs in precision agriculture, antimicrobial resistance and cyber-physical systems would also be started, with a view to creating globally-relevant technologies to address the challenges of Singapore.

"CREATE has achieved significant progress in anchoring research talent from all over the world in Singapore, to perform cutting-edge work that benefits Singapore in both social and economic areas," said Teo Chee Hean, deputy prime minister and coordinating minister for National Security, and chairman of National Research Foundation (NRF) Singapore.

CREATE was set up by the National Research Foundation Singapore in 2007 as an international campus to forge partnerships between Singapore's universities/research institutions and leading overseas research institutions.
