Nairobi, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's leading technology firm Huawei on Thursday unveiled a new photography campaign to help showcase Kenya's scenic attractions to the world on its digital platforms.

Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Najib Balala, senior Huawei executives and art lovers attended the launch of the campaign dubbed "Kenya: Exploring a new point of view" to help spotlight the country's natural heritage through photographs.

"This campaign will help us create a new narrative for our tourism products. We need to engage photographers to showcase our country's beautiful landscapes," said Balala.

Huawei partnered with Kenya's leading mobile service company Safaricom to sponsor a renowned local photographer to capture some of the most outstanding scenic attractions in the country using a dual camera in its P10 smartphone.

The architectural photographer called Mutua Matheka captured the captivating images on top of Safaricom masts that are powered by Huawei technology.

His seven-day photography mission took him to various parts of the country like the Rift Valley, savannah grasslands, highlands and the coast region that draw tourists in droves due to their natural splendor.

Eight images captured by Matheka that stood out from a huge collection will be showcased on Huawei's digital platforms.

"Kenya has changed in the last few years and it is important to portray the country in a positive way," He remarked adding that Kenya's digital revolution has helped rewrite the country's narrative.

Xavier Wong, the Creative Director for Huawei Global, said Kenya was privileged to be the first country in the world where the digital photography campaign was implemented with success.

"We managed to get a professional photographer to showcase Kenya's beauty using powerful snapshots captured by Huawei's latest Smartphone," said Xavier.

He added that Huawei will be in the frontline of Kenya's technological and cultural transformation.

Stephen Chege, the Head of Corporate Affairs at Safaricom, hailed the partnership with Huawei to implement the digital photography campaign, terming it a game changer in Kenya's quest to improve its image overseas.

"We are delighted to have partnered with Huawei Technologies on this project because it captures not only the hidden beauty that lies within our country but also our continuing quest to expand coverage across Kenya," Chege remarked. Enditem
