Hungary's trade surplus reaches 6.5 billion euros in first nine months of 2017

BUDAPEST, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian trade surplus reached 6.5 billion euros (7.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of 2017, less than in the same period of 2016, when it reached 7.6 billion euros, Hungarian central statistical office KSH said in a statement here on Friday.

Exports reached 75.4 billion euros, whereas imports amounted to 68.8 billion euros in the first nine months of 2017. The volume of exports was up by 6.1 percent and that of imports by 8.1 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to KSH.

In September 2017, the value of exports amounted to 8.8 billion euros and that of imports to 7.9 billion euros. The export volume increased by 3.3 percent, the import volume by 4.6 percent, and the surplus was 937 million euros and decreased by 28 million euros compared to the same month of the previous year.

In September, 80 percent of the exports, and 77 percent of the imports were conducted with the other countries of the European Union, KSH stated.

Last year, the trade surplus reached a record of 10 billion euros. (1 euro = 1.19 U.S. dollars) Enditem
