Singapore stocks close 0.47 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) rising 0.47 percent or 16 points to close at 3449.54.

A total of 2.11 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.21 billion Singapore dollars (about 902 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 231 to 203.

The STI index closed down 0.16 percent or 5.45 points to close at 3433.54 on Thursday. Enditem
