Algiers, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Algeria has granted 100 million U.S. dollars to five countries in Sahel region for counter-terrorism, official APS news agency reported on Thursday.

Algeria has spent more than 100 million dollars in last seven or eight years in aid to five countries in the Sahel region (Chad, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Libya) to form anti-terrorism forces and offer huge amount of equipment, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia made the remarks on the sidelines of the 5th African Union-European Union summit, according to the report.

The prime minister noted that "the solidarity of Algeria in the fight against terrorism, in the Sahel region, has been organized through the Military Staff Operations Committee (CEMOC) and other cooperation mechanisms."

Recalling that Algeria's experience in the fight against terrorism is "painfully rich," Ouyahia said that on the political level, Algeria is making "a huge effort of participation and reflection in this area."

"We shared with the African family and the rest of the world our experience, not only in fighting terrorism with Kalashnikov in hand, but in de-radicalization," said the prime minister. Enditem
