Tokyo shares close higher on gains of domestic demand-sensitive shares

TOKYO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares closed higher Thursday with market sentiment boosted by gains of domestic demand-oriented shares.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 127.76 points, or 0.57 percent, from Wednesday at 22,724.96, its highest close since Nov. 9.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 5.93 points, or 0.33 percent, higher at 1,792.08.

Gainers were led by securities house, bank and retail issues.

The day's turnover was around 4,539.3 billion yen (40.45 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
